Welcome to the Eythorne Baptist Church web site

Welcome to our website. It is here to let you see the sort of things that we get up to, and for the church members, and friends of the church, to share items of interest.

Our Sunday services are at 11am and 6.30pm every Sunday - feel free to join us at any time. More information can be found under Weekly Activities on left hand menu.

Ladies Coffee and Dessert Evening, May 16th at 7:45 p.m.

After our very successful Coffee and Dessert Evening last year, we have arranged another evening as part of Christian Aid week. Manetta Leigh will be speaking about Christian Aid work in Zimbabwe. The evening will also include special music and other activities.

Defender of Faiths?

Extremism. Irrelevance. The twin evils set to destroy the public image and persona of religion worldwide. The first fuelled by minority elements amongst people of faith, and the second foisted upon religion by a majority of those of no faith, dismissing it as outmoded superstition.

Youth Club

Youth Club

This car belongs to Nick who will be speaking at our youth club 9th May 2008

God willing, he'll be bringing this car with him for us to have a look at.

Nick is involved with the "Christians in Motorsport" organisation and "The Track" which is a Scripture Union motorsports themed holiday that Rachel and Tony are also involved in.

YOUTH CLUB

A reminder to all you YOUTH CLUBBERS (the old ones as well) that we are having Youth Club this coming Friday (4th April) one week earlier than normal because too many people are away over the holiday.

Usual time 7-9. See you all there!

Christian Aid Week 2008

Some in the community may know that I am the Christian Aid representative for Eythorne, Elvington and Waldershare. Over the years I have found it increasingly difficult to 'recruit' volunteers to collect the house to house envelopes in the forementioned villages, which means the donations passed on to Christian Aid are not as generous as they could be.

ECBNet

As some of you will by now know Elsie is stepping down as editor of ECBNet and I was not quick enough to duck for cover when volunteers were asked to step forward. Being fairly new to the church (and the area) I though it would be a good time to canvass opinion and ideas for how the magazine could be developed.

What a great Easter at EBC. To God be all the glory!

Good Friday - excellent time was had by all; challenging sermons, scrumy tea; great singing and music - what more can be said!!
Easter Wedding - a bonus to the holiday weekend and didn't they all look lovely?
Easter Sunday Family Service - everyone that took part did brilliantly and it was great to see so many visitors. The (inside) Easter egg hunt was again very popular.

Easter Services March 23rd

Come and join us for our Easter Services and celebrated the Resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Our Family Service, led by Sunday Club will be at 11:00 am and our more traditional Evening Service at 6:30 pm.

Good Friday

The 458 Anniversary services will be held at 3:30 pm and 6:00 pm on Friday March 21st. Tea will be served between the services. The speak this year is John Glass from Grace Church Geneva. The Silver Band, choir, children's choir and music group will be contributing to the services. Everyone is welcome to attend and there will be special arrangements for children during the 3:30 service

Photographic Exhibition of Eythorne

13/05/2008 - 10:30
15/05/2008 - 19:59
Etc/GMT

I wonder if anyone has photographs of shops, businesses and events relating to Eythorne over the last century. We are hoping to have a photographic exhibition on the 13th-15th May 2008 and wish to expand the collection to be shown on that occasion. Times are as follows, Tuesday and Wednesday will be from 10.30am to 5.30pm. Thursday will be from 11am to 8pm.

Plea for knitters for charity

On 2nd April I shall be returning to visit the children in Nanyuki Children's Home. At a visit several years ago some very kind people knitted a host of glove puppets for me to take to give to the children. I cannot tell of the delight and joy these puppets gave the children. We taught them to play games together using the puppets (hilarious).

A New Year for rejoicing

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy he has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ… In this you rejoice, even if now for a little while you have had to suffer various trials. 1 Peter 1:3,6
