Welcome to the Eythorne Baptist Church web site

Welcome to our website. It is here to let you see the sort of things that we get up to, and for the church members, and friends of the church, to share items of interest.

Our Sunday services are at 11am and 6.30pm every Sunday - feel free to join us at any time. More information can be found under Weekly Activities on left hand menu.

Broadband, Narrow Vision

From the coordination via social networking websites of protests in Iran, to the phasing out of textbooks in favour of online learning resources in California, to your viewing of this article wherever you are in the world, Internet technology has changed the way we live.

And, whether you think it for better or worse, it will continue to do so.

Connecting or Disconnecting with Culture?

Some time in the next three years our elderly television set will have to go, since it provides merely four analogue channels. Our dilemma is whether to live without TV, or embrace a multiplicity of digital possibilities. So I decided to read thoroughly a broadsheet media guide.

Excuse me, are you Jesus?

A few years ago a group of salesmen went to a regional sales convention in Chicago. They had assured their wives that they would be home in plenty of time for Friday night's dinner. In their rush home through the airport, with tickets and briefcases, one of these salesmen inadvertently kicked over a table which held a display of apples. Apples flew everywhere.

Barbie, aged 50

I read this article and thought I'd share it (errh.. yes, okay I have no excuses for reading an article on Barbie!)

Redundancy

The sight of stunned employees carrying their personal possessions in cardboard boxes out of the Lehman Bank building is etched in my memory. Gathering in a state of shock in local bars, some dulled their pain with alcohol and tried to rebuild self-worth through group support.

We are planning another Christianity Explored Course starting on January 12th at 10 am. This will be a morning course designed for those who are around during the day - specifically mothers. We hope to provide a creche.

The Secret Millionaire

Channel 4’s The Secret Millionaire is TV that can legitimately claim to change lives. Each programme follows a millionaire as they go ‘undercover’ for two weeks, to experience life on benefit in a deprived area. During their fortnight, the millionaire seeks out volunteer opportunities with local community projects, with a view to identifying worthy causes to which they can donate cash.
